Blue Bronna Wilderness Camp Ride-A-Thon
It is that time of year again. Ride-A-Thon. This year I am hoping I don’t get sick or get stuck staying at the bottom of the mountains while everyone else is enjoying the majestic views provided by Alberta’s amazing Rocky Mountains.
Blue Bronna Wilderness Camp is nestled in the foothill of the Rocky Mountains, just southwest of Longview, Alberta, right on the border of Kananaskis Country, at Willow Creek. The camp provides a wilderness experience to hundreds of people of all ages each summer. Along with their Christian mission, the leaders and staff at Blue Bronna Wilderness Camp provide campers with an amazing experience in Wilderness camping, horseback riding, and a combination of the two on one of their many pack trips.
The cost of sending a person, mostly young people, to camp is in the area of 800.00 per person. Camp fees are kept lower, $300-$500 per camp, through donations and fund raising drives held by the camp. The Ride-A-Thon is the big fundraiser each year.
This year the fundraising drive is even more important as the camp was pretty hard hit by the floods experiences all over the region earlier this summer. With the main access road and driveway wiped out, the camp was forced to build new access ways into the camp. This entailed, literally, hundreds of man-hours to achieve, but the job got done.
I have donation books and will be accepting donations up until Thursday, September 26, 2013. In order to sponsor me on this ride, please feel free to email me at horseguyjohn [at] gmail.com I can accept sponsors through paypal or interac e-transfer.
